What to See in Tampa, Florida

tampaTampa sits on Florida’s West Coast, where you can enjoy the sunshine and beaches of the Gulf of Mexico.  There are many tourist attractions to enjoy whilst in Tampa.

Tampa Busch Gardens

Busch Gardens is the largest theme park in Tampa. You can sample rollercoasters, water rides and river rapids.

Busch Gardens also has a fully stocked Zoo.  You can see lions, hippos, monkeys and zebras all in their natural habitats.

Museum of Science and Industry

This non-profit museum contains some of the most strange and interesting exhibits you are likely to see in any museum worldwide. It houses the Saunders Planetarium – the only planetarium in Tampa.

Sport and Concerts

If you have any interest in football, I would recommend taking in a Buccaneers game if possible – check the fixture list here.  Tampa also hosts an NHL team – Tampa Bay Lightning.

There is also a lot of high profile concerts in Tampa. For example, you might want to grab some Jimmy Buffett tickets while you are there.

Eating Out

Tampa has a hugely varied set of high quality restaurants to choose from.  If you like seafood you are spoilt for choice – Aquaknox on Courtney Campbell Causeway and Aphrodite’s on N. Dale Mabry are both particularly highly regarded by the locals.

My personal favorite is Rosie’s Clam Shack, located at 6657 49th St Pinellas Park – it’s extremely reasonably priced and Rosie is on hand to greet you personally.  You can’t beat the stuffed baked sea Scallops from Rosies :)
